Dang y’all. I can NOT believe that it is already the end of December! As I get older, I really feel the years go by faster. ( Just typing that sentence made me feel really old… oh no.) With the year coming to a close I want to share some amazing things from 2019. (9 things for twenty nineteen)
Internship
This summer I had the opportunity to work at University Baptist Church in Houston as a youth ministry intern. When initially applying and accepting this job, I did so with the intention that it was just a summer job. While I knew it was going to be fun and different, I did not expect it to have the impact that it did have on me. I am so so thankful for this internship and believe that this is one, if not the most, impactful experience of 2019.
Africa
Port. Shepstone. South. Africa.
This place will forever have my heart. I first visited Africa in 2016. After making the decision to truly follow Jesus my freshman year of college, I realized that my first trip to Africa was more of a travel opportunity to me than a mission trip. This past summer, I had the opportunity to go to South Africa again and I immediately took it. Going to SA this year has truly been a highlight. Seeing how big God is has truly changed my perspective and deepened my faith. I’ll probably write a longer post on this but I could not have made a 2019 post without mentioning this trip.
Diggin’ In
For the first time, I really dug into the Word. Growing up in church, I often heard about how great the Bible was. This was the first year I truly understood that and personally felt the weight of the Bible. The Bible is truly all they say and more. Reading through the gospels has forever changed my relationship with Christ and I am so so thankful that I am finally so so excited while reading God’s word.
Sooner Bred
This year my younger brother joined me at OU!! It is sooo nice to have him at uni with me. Every week we meet at least once to eat and catch up. This has definitely been a highlight of my year. When I found out Evan decided to go to OU in early 2019 I cried juuuuust a little bit. Having family just a few minutes away is something I didn’t realize I missed so much.
AOII Bible Study
I finally started a Bible Study in my sorority this year!! Oh my… this is something I have been praying about and longing to start for a long time and it finally came to fruition Fall of 2019. Since I joined AOII, starting a Bible study had always been on my heart and after failing my first Bible Study launch I was really hopeful for the second one. Writing my own Bible Study and meeting girls in my sorority chasing the same thing as me has been so so rewarding. I am so excited to continue this study and can’t wait to see what will happen this next year.
Major Change
I changed my major for the LAST TIME!! I plan on dedicating an individual post to this but I switched my major to Advertising at the last possible minute in order for me to graduate on time. So far I love my new major and am so excited to continue studying it.
My Peeps
The people I spend my time with definitely make my year. This year my friends have helped and stood with me through a lot and I am so SO grateful. I love all of you so much and could not have had such a great year without you. I met so many new people and spent time with many old friends and thank God for you all every day. THHHHHHANK YOU!!!!
Da New New
I am so excited for every new project and idea that has come to my mind this year. Working on Sincerely Jamie Lynn and things to come has been so exciting. I am so thankful God has called me to do his work and that through him I have seen my passions flourish. I am so excited for plans made this year to play out.
Thailand
For years I have wanted to attend a family wedding. A year ago my uncle told our family he was marrying my aunt in Thailand and I was SOOOOO excited. Thailand was such an amazing trip and I am so grateful to see the world. The wedding was so so beautiful and the tradition and culture I experienced were like no other. I am excited to share a longer post about this but this was the perfect way to end 2019.
Overall, my 2019 was a year of growth. There was a lot that I didn’t expect but I am so thankful I was able to see God work in a whole different way. I am going into 2020 with excitement and I truly look forward to seeing what it holds. I hope your 2019 was beautiful and I will see you in the next post.
